“That was unfortunate. It was essentially an interaction with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was entirely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just put up the incorrect finger,” he noted. “The action was accidentally done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved rapidly.”
